Obesity and Reductil

Reductil is recommended for use by people who wish to lose weight that are classed as clinically obese. This is defined by your Body Mass Index, which is a calculation of your weight in kilograms divided by your height in metres squared. Your dietician or health professional will be able to work out for you, then you will fall into one of the categories below:

Less than 18.5 - Underweight
18.5 – 25 - Ideal
25 – 30 - Overweight
30 – 40 - Obese
Over 40 - Severely obese

Obesity is having a heavy accumulation of fat cells in the body to the degree where it causes health problems. In British males, around 30% are now classed as obese and mainly carry fat around their middles, whereas women tend to carry fat evenly distributed over the whole body.

Being obese is not a pleasant state and is very unhealthy for the body and the mind. It can lead to severe, life-limiting or life-threatening diseases such as heart attacks, strokes, arthritis, type II diabetes, sleep apnoea, gallstones and back and joint pain, plus the many and varied emotional and psychological stresses. So it makes sense to do something about it, and this is where Reductil can help.

Reductil works best for people with a BMI of 30 or more, as described by the National Institute of Clinical Excellence guidelines. But if you have other medical problems, like high cholesterol or type II diabetes, you will benefit from Reductil if you have a BMI of 27 or more. It is especially recommended for people in either category who have had difficulty losing weight in previous months by dieting alone. By using a combination of a sensible, balanced diet, increased exercise and Reductil, 77% of people who took part in recent clinical trials reported weight loss.

It is important to stress that Reductil is not a wonder drug that will work instantly and a prolonged managed programme of healthy eating and exercise will be needed to aid the slimming process. Fast weight loss caused by crash diets is damaging to long-term health, and the majority of weight lost in this way is regained once the crash diet is stopped.

As genuine Reductil is a benign, safe drug, it can be taken over a longer time period to achieve the slow, steady fat loss that obese people require. It is safe to take for up to twelve months and ideally after the initial three month period, a person taking Reductil and following a balanced diet with appropriate exercise, should show a weight loss of around 5% of their initial weight. After a six month period, the weight lost should be approximately 5 – 12% of the initial body weight. Most dieticians and health professionals agree that a 10% reduction in body fat can significantly reduce health risks. If you have other weight-related health problems such as diabetes, you may find that the weight loss could be slower and takes longer to achieve.
