Does Reductil work?
Reductil has been classed as a safe weight loss medication that is currently available on prescription through the NHS in the UK, or you can buy Reductil online. In its development during the 1990s it was extensively tested, and through this intense scientific study, the manufacturers Knoll were able to clearly show how effective Reductil can be when prescribed and used properly. Further rigorous research and development was continued when Abbott Laboratories acquired Knoll in 2001.
There have been several well-documented ‘blind’ trails of Reductil. This is where the test group is split into two groups, one is given Reductil and the other is given a placebo, and neither group knows which it is that they are taking. This enables the scientists to minimise any perceived or imagined effect that a patient might report. A ‘double blind’ trial is when the scientists monitoring and recording the effects of the trials also don’t know which drug which group of patients is taking, so any bias from their perspective is eliminated.
One double blind trial took place over an 18 month period and involved 8052 patients with Body mass Index scores ranging from 27 to 40. This trial concluded that weight was significantly reduced in those patients taking Reductil when compared to those on the placebo, and after 12 months the weight loss was sustained. This trial also showed that the amounts and rate of weigh loss of the Reductil group was fairly consistent across all the patients.
A further 12 month study showed that 77% of all Reductil patients achieved at least a 5% loss of their initial body weight at the 12 month mark. There have been no differences noted between weight loss amounts or rate for males compared to females; it appears to be mostly a consistent figure. A net weight loss of around 5kg was found in the Reductil group, whereas the placebo group had in fact gained an average of half a kilo during the 12 month trial.
But it is important to understand that Reductil is not designed or recommended to be taken alone, a combined plan involving increased activity and exercise plus a low-fat, healthy diet is required to get the most benefit from Reductil. So whilst Reductil will help you to cope with eating less by making you feel full after eating and lessening hunger pangs and cravings, it is not a quick fix, and a commitment to a healthier lifestyle is needed to successfully lose and keep off excess fat. When used in this way, Reductil is an effective medication that really works for the majority of users.
